About Me

Hi, my name is Melvina and my family and I moved from New York City to Atlanta,Georgia.  My family includes my hubby, my twin teenagers, a boy and a girl, and our beloved doggie Cleo.  I always thought of myself as a city girl, but since moving to Atlanta, I have embraced southern living.

I've always like thrift stores and getting the most bang for my buck but it wasn't until we brought our fixer upper here in Atlanta that it has become a passion.  I had a lot of big ideas for the house, but not big money so I thought about how I could get the home I dreamed of on my tiny budget. Thrift stores to the rescue!  I began searching out all of the thrift stores in the area and neighboring towns.  I also found a lot of great blogs.   It's nice to know that there are a whole bunch of us with like minds about DIY, whether it is upcycling, recycling, or a case of "they want how much for that".   

I'm now working full time, so I can't visit the thrift stores as often as before before but I still try to go every week.  I never know what I will find.  

So I'm doing my house one room at a time (mostly).  I hope you can find things on here that you find interesting, make you laugh, have an "aha moment" or inspire you.
